early 20th century american interior commercial building gothic style elevator cab floor indicator push button plaque or backplate fabricated by or for the elevator supply & repair co., chicago, il. the wall mount plaque is comprised of cast bronze with an older metallic gold enameled finish. the words "up" and "down" are deeply embossed. the two pre-drilled openings once contained the push buttons used to call the elevator cab. the plaque is adorned with trefoils and tracery. manufactured by or for the elevator supply & repair co., chicago, il. measures 9 x 4 inches.
