early 20th century original american made stamped wrought brass exterior entrance door backplate possibly fabricated by sargent or russwin. the doorknob backplate retains the original protruding collar or thimble, fastened tightly to the backside of the escutcheon. the large circular opening is used specifically with a cylinder lock. the decorative backplate contains four screw holes for mounting purposes. measures approximately 11 x 3 inches.
