late 1880's antique american interior residential ornamental cast iron figural fireplace summer cover attributed to the chattanooga implement & mfg. co., chattanooga, tenn. the copper-plated iron summer cover features a centrally located and lightly embossed or raised winged cherub and costumed figure kneeling down by a decorative urn with fire and smoke. the surrounding landscape features trees and mountains. the border contains swirling vines with leafage. the original pressed steel knobs (top and bottom) are intact and secured to the backside of the summer cover. salvaged from a st. louis row house undergoing demolition. 20 1/2 inches x 1/2 inch x 21 inches.
