19th century antique american victorian era fanciful cast bronze interior residential sliding pocket door backplate or escutcheon possibly fabricated by the chicago hardware co., chicago, il. the heavily ornamented backplate with fish scale field pattern contains a deeply recessed "cup" handle for pulling the door from the pocket. nicely aged surface patina. measures approximately 6 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches.
