19th century antique american ornamental cast iron victorian era triangular-shaped escutcheon or backplate designed and fabricated by wm. h. livingston & co., johnstown, ny. the interior residential doorknob backplate contains a six-sided or hexagonal rosette containing butterfly motifs. the original baked black enameled inlay remains intact. great overall condition. measures approximately 2 x 4 inches.
