hard to find mid-19th century mineral water bottle manufactured for philadelphia bottler mccauley. the front body is embossed "mccauley / mineral water / philada" with raised end-letter 'a' in the abbreviated city name. the high, steep shoulders are finished with a long neck and applied rounded collar that features heavy tooling marks and a couple flat chips. the base has a domed kickup with residue from the iron pontil and visible side seams evidencing manufacture with a key hinge mold. crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture, and include large bubbles throughout the body and whittling at the neck. possibly hand blown by dyottville glassworks.
