unique and original ornamental cast aluminum "novalux" city street lamp post unit. likely fabricated by cutter or the central electric co., chicago. the exterior street lamp unit retains the original okonite insulated wires and white porcelain mogul base designed for use with mazda "c" lamps. the fanciful lamp unit is comprised of a heavy gauge aluminum with original green enameled finish. the glass globe (not present) would have been positioned between the two curved arms, secured tightly to the flared bottom socket housing with decorative acorn finial top. the street lamp post would have been joined at the lamp unit base. salvaged from the chicago area. dates to the 1920's. measures 40 x 23 inches. the shade fitter opening is 5 inches. the opening for the pole or post is 7 inches.
