unique and visually distinctive early 20th century antique american white glazed "sullivanesque" style terra cotta building ornament executed by the midland terra cotta company, chicago, il. the unusually-shaped glazed terra cotta fragment features intricate and lively leafage with geometric shapes and berries - all design characteristics used by notable prairie architect louis h. sullivan. a complete catalog of sullivanesque stock terra cotta was offered by the midland terra cotta company. the diminutive terra cotta fragment remains in great overall condition, with the original rear cavities or "webbing" intact. only one available. measures 14 x 8 x 9 inches
