c. 1880's original antique american ornamental cast bronze residential entrance or vestibule door backplate designed and fabricated by the p. & f. corbin company, new britain, ct. the decorative backplate or escutcheon features highly detailed allover leafage from top to bottom. the protruding grooved or fluted thimble is tightly affixed to the backplate. the doorknob backplate contains a single keyhole and two screw holes for mounting purposes. nicely aged and/or darkened surface patina. 2 1/2 inches x 7 inches.
