remarkable hand-crafted polychrome enameled wood world war i era single prop folk art airplane. the largely intact early 20th century plane features a unique rotary engine with the exterior black cylinders made of coils. the finely carved wood propeller is original to the plane. the fuselage contains a total of four windows with clear glass panels. the fixed-wing aircraft contains a multitude of white military stars found along the wing and vertical tail. the wrought steel wheels are intact and move freely. the original timeworn painted surface has a nice crazed finish. the early 20th century american folk art plane measures 36 x 38 x 12 inches.
