single all original and fully functional c. 1870's ornamental cast iron black enameled heat register or grate designed, patented, and fabricated by w.g. creamer company & co., 96 john street, new york city, ny. the flush mount grate contains a very fanciful floral motif with intact brass knob handle, designed to open and close the louvers. the baseboard or wall vent self-adjusting louvers are enclosed within the cast iron wall frame. salvaged from a new york city rowhouse demolished long ago. measures 17 x 14 1/2 inches.
