rare one-of-a-kind 19th century heavily ornamented solid quartered oak wood interior residential staircase newel post finial with fluted urn cap topped with ball finial. the amazingly well-designed and masterfully carved newel cap retains the original finish. the oak wood newel post finial was salvaged from a new york city mansion built around 1895.
