exceptionally rare and all original louis h. sullivan-designed double-sided cast plaster interior residential cove molding segment salvaged from adler and sullivan's albert sullivan house before its demolition in 1970. the house was built in 1892 for louis sullivan's mother, but she passed away shortly before it was completed. sullivan moved in after the house was completed and occupied it until 1896 when his brother albert and family moved in. built around the time of the world's fair of 1893 and the construction of the transportation building, sullivan had ornament recast and installed in house, including the thistle pattern plaster used in his bedroom the plaster ornament was originally painted a light mint green color. other colors used throughout the house were similar to that of the polychromed transportation building.
