nicely worn and weathered old yellow painted pine wood pre-fire chicago four-panel door with original russell & erwin patented mortise lock and white porcelain doorknobs

lightly cleaned original and intact late 1860's all original pre-fire chicago interior apartment or tenement room passage door likely fabricated by the c.j.l. meyer mfg. co., chicago, il. the distressed yellow painted door was salvaged from a milwaukee avenue commercial block (containing residential living on the upper floors) constructed around 1869-71 with an athens marble or buena vista stone (quarried from joiliet, ill.) facade. the paneled passage door retains the original russell & erwin mortise lock (patented in 1862), along with white porcelain knobs and matching escutcheons. the door exhibits an allover crazed finish. the original painted treatment consisted of a faux wood grain finish mimicking oak wood. the passage door is structurally sound and stable. measures 29 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 83 inches.
