c. 1936 antique american george grant elmslie-designed terra cotta exterior cornice panel salvaged from the thomas a. edison elementary school located in hammond, ind. the terra cotta panel has been cut down to reduce both weight and make it easier to mount on a wall. the richly colored glazed terra cotta "sullivanesque" panel was sculpted by fritz albert at the midland terra company, chicago, ills. the non-extant school's ornament was designed by elmslie. the architect on record was william hutton, who hired elmslie to design the exterior ornament.
