two matching original and intact unornamented cast iron interior residential basement washtub supports or stands fabricated by or fo rthe weil brothers company, chicago, il. the freestanding refinished brackets were designed and patented in 1909 by inventory edward j. korman. the two brushed and sanded brackets have been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the stands or bases were used to support a double basin soapstone sink. the weil brothers company was founded as a hardware supplier in 1881 by isadora and benjamin weil in chicago, il. in 1918, after acquiring a main supplier, j.h. mclain company, the weil brothers was renamed weil-mclain and their boiler plant operations were moved to michigan city, indiana. throughout the 20th century, weil-mclain grew to be the largest u.s. manufacturer of cast iron boilers. priced for the pair. two matching sets available.
