refinished late 19th or early 20th century structurally sound and stable freestanding ornamental cast iron column or pedestal purportedly used with a platform scale. the deeply grooved or fluted and tapered column contains an unusually large circular-shaped flange with a multitude of pre-drilled holes. the repurposed side table or display stand contains a newly added solid oak wood square-shaped tabletop with a slightly recessed four-sided apron using the same wood species. the robust cast iron base has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. great overall condition. base diameter measures 17 inches, height measures 31 inches, top diameter measures 16 1/2 inches.
