highly ornate late 19th century antique american ornamental cast iron replacement grille designed and fabricated by the dawson brothers, chicago, il. the pierced metal grate was salvaged from a badly damaged dawson fireplace gas insert or grate. the highly detailed foliated scrollwork has a nice metallic copper enameled finish. contains two opposed screw holes for mounting against the insert (within the opening containing the gas burners or jets). two available. measures 20 1/4 x 7 inches.
