original 19th century salvaged chicago freestanding commercial building oak wood staircase newel post likely fabricated by palmer, fuller, and company, chicago, ills. the hardwood newel post features a unique pyramidal-shaped top with richly ornamented acanthus leaves. the box-shaped newel post was salvaged from a chicago commercial building undergoing renovations. two similar newel posts are available.
