original and intact late 19th century american interior residential ornamental cast iron "westminster" pattern doorknob backplate designed and fabricated by the reading hardware company, reading, pa. the brushed metal doorknob backplate retains the original wrought brass thimble or collar. the backplate contains a single keyhole and two screw holes for mounting purposes. measures approximately 7 3/4 x 2 inches.
