remarkable early 1870's painted pine wood salvaged chicago gothic style victorian exterior residential double door entrance and surround. the outer molding features a classic gothic arch header, known as the quinto acuto or "pointed fifth". the pointed arch double door set contains single raised panels and deeply incised, wheel-cut glass with floral motifs. the deeply recessed doors are surrounded by two tiers of intricate rope molding executed by a lathe with specialized knives. hall & winch was one of the more prominent chicago-based firms at the time that specialized in rope moldings. the victorian cottage's salvaged assemblage includes the door jamb, molding, and doors. 68 x 118.5 x 11
