unique and very unusual early 1920's fully functional antique american industrial retractable "miller" automobile or commercial truck manual hand signal designed and fabricated by the miller auto-signal company, columbus, oh. the unique and seemingly rare manually-operated auto-signal is comprised of a five-digit cast aluminum hand attached to a retractable scissor arm that is operated with the use of rope running through a diminutive cast iron pulley. the l-shaped pressed and folded steel mounting bracket contains multiple screw holes. the entire automotive signal was completely cleaned and refinished. several design patents were issued around this time for automobile signal devices integrated within the body, or attached on the sides, front and back and so on.
