well-maintained all original antique american industrial depression era green porcelain enameled hanging incandescent city street light fixture designed and fabricated by or for the george cutter company, south bend, ind. the main oversized insulator is comprised of green glazed ceramic or porcelain. the hanging city street fixture's insulator can withstand voltage strains up to 25,000 volts. the insulator also acts as a spreader arm for the leads, which simplifies both wiring and construction. the ventilated fluted cast iron canopy is threaded for 3/4 inch pipe or an adapter, which can be mounted to the cutter incandescent bracket often found with these fixtures when affixed to a building or pole. the original vibrant green porcelain enameled radial reflector contains a four inch copper heel and diffusing glassware. the radial reflector retains the original white porcelain enameled reflective underside. the street light would likely have been outfitted with mazda type c incandescent light bulbs with a wattage of 300-500. the heavy gauge steel radial wave reflector measures 20 inches in diameter. the overall height of the fixture is 16 inches. socket adapters are available to bring the wattage down to a more standard luminosity (i.e., 45-75 watts).
