hard to find and highly desirable original early 20th century antique american cold-rolled steel medical cabinet designed and fabricated by the thorner mfg. co., new york city, ny. the distinctive medical cabinet is constructed of welded joint angled steel with reinforced clear glass sidelights, shelves, tabletop and cabinet doors. the c. 1910-20 hospital operating room storage cabinet and workstation was salvaged from the old cook county hospital (chicago, il). the industrial grade cabinet contains exposed bronze hinges with cabinet knob pulls and latches. the tabletop or glass platform has a three-sided rail guard. the single pull out steel drawer is original and intact. the four-legged base contains fanciful flared front legs. the cabinet has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat finish. measures 70 x 18 1/2 x 23 x 32 inches.
