all original and intact mid-1880's cylindrical salt glazed stoneware weiss beer bottle manufactured for paul pohl in chicago, illiniois. the front body is stamped "paul pohl / [ornament] / chicago" inside a circle. the pint-sized bottle has sloping shoulders and a squat neck finished with an applied long tapered collar that is in near perfect condition. the bottle would originally have contained a cork stopper closure. paul pohl operated a brewery at 2335/2344 cooper street during the early 1880's and in a different iteration during the early twentieth century.
