single completely intact and fully functional vintage american industrial "explosion" or vapor-proof wall sconce designed and fabricated by the appleton electric co., chicago, il. the reinforced caged electric light fixture was salvaged from a midwestern grain elevator undergoing demolition. the single light appleton fixture contains a solid steel socket housing with snap-on cast aluminum bulb-guard or cage. the heavy gauge threaded steel flange contains a metallic bronze enameled finish. the impact-resistant globe or "jar" is comprised of impact-resistant amber-colored glass. multiple fixtures available in a variety of configurations. measures 10 inches high x 4 inches in diameter.
