frost and granger-designed neoclassical style ornamental cast iron corbel salvaged from the chicago and northwestern railroad office building

early 20th century unrestored american exterior ornamental cast iron building facade corbel salvaged from the extant 14-story chicago and northwestern railroad prairie school office building designed by the architectural firm of frost and granger in 1904. the partnership, consisting of charles sumner frost (1856–1931) and alfred hoyt granger, were known for their designs of train stations and terminals, including the now-demolished chicago and north western terminal in chicago. the oversized neoclassical style cast iron corbel contains richly ornamented floral rosettes, extensive acanthus leafage and volutes. the nicely weathered and worn layers of old black paint have been left intact. attributed to the dearborn foundry company, chicago, il. measures 8 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches x 24 inches.
