hard to find and highly desirable original early 20th century american commercial chemistry laboratory stationary workbench designed and fabricated by the kewaunee mfg. co., adrian, mi. the remarkable interior "island" laboratory table is comprised largely of white oak wood throughout. the multitude of sliding drawers contain lightly incised or stamped numbers above the diminutive barrel locks and finely crafted wood handles. the center cabinet contains two swing-out stools supported by cast iron brackets. the rounded edge seats are made of maple wood. the original tabletop is made of remarkably strong and heavy solid maple wood. the science laboratory bench is finished on all four sides, with recessed panels adorning the sides and rear portions of the central cabinet. the solid oak wood square posts and adjoining stretchers are structurally sound and stable. original nickel-plated "shoes" fastened securely on each leg. salvaged from an old northwestern indiana technical and/or trade school. measures 72 x 24 x 32 inches.
