single intact and structurally sound late 1930's or early 1940's super streamlined style american art deco machine age "guardsman junior" table or desk lamp designed and fabricated by the faries manufacturing co., decatur, ills. the "sight-saving" single electric light portable table lamp was designed and patented in 1937 by bert dickerson, assignor to the faries manufacturing co., decatur, il. the fixture is comprised largely of spun yellow brass with the original highly sought after normandy bronze finish intact. the saucer-shaped shade or reflector remains in great condition, considering age. the cast brass ball finial is accentuated with two graduating "speed" rings. the weighted cast iron base is concealed with a base cover that contains the on/off switch. the faries lamp has retains the original cord.
