c. 1900-10 original antique american stamped or pressed steel exterior entrance door backplate or escutcheon fabricated by the p. & f. corbin co., new britain, ct. the oversized "como" pattern doorknob backplate contains a partially worn copper-plated surface finish. the wrought steel thimble or collar is secured tightly to the backside of the escutcheon. the large circular opening is designed for use with a standard cylinder lock. measures approximately 11 1/4 x 3 inches.
