antique american industrial cast iron wood working band saw machine base possibly fabricated by henry disston & sons or possibly the duro metal products co., located in chicago, il. the vintage foot-powered band saw machine was sold and distributed by montgomery ward & co., chicago, il. the solid weighted iron base contains flared or outswept feet with slots designed for fasteners used to anchor the base into the floor. the upper portion of the frame (removed long ago) contained the pulleys, wheels, saw blade and table. manufacturer markings, in the form of deeply embossed lettering, are prominently displayed along the front of the base.
