early 20th century original cast brass oval-shaped massachusetts state capital building emblematic doorknob

all original heavy cast brass oval-shaped government emblematic doorknob salvaged from the massachusetts capitol building (often referred to as the "state house") located in the beacon hill neighborhood of boston. the original federal style building was built between 1795-1798 with charles bulfinch as architect. two marble wings on either side, were added in 1917. the doorknob was removed from one of these additions. the emblematic doorknob likely made by the sargent hardware company.
