early 20th century diminutive heavy gauge steel new york city subway brakeman's tool box with riveted brass plaque

c. 1915-25 original antique american industrial diminutive heavy gauge cold-rolled steel spare parts and/or toolbox fabricated by or for the consolidated car heating company, new york city, ny. the portable storage box was acquired from a retired new york city subway brakeman who used it for keeping loose change. the compact box has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the original riveted brass manufacturer's plaque with slightly raised lettering and baked black enameled inlay is original and in great shape, considering age.
