early 20th century ornamental cast bronze office door backplate, salvaged from the downtown chicago mccormick office building completed in 1910. the neoclassical style backplate was manufactured by the sargent hardware co., new haven, ct. contains a nicely aged surface patina. the extant neoclassical style skyscraper was designed by the architectural firm of holabird & roche. the 20 story building was constructed with a steel frame with light brown applied masonry. the northern addition was completed in 1912. measures approximately 10 3/4 x 3 1/8 inches.
