early 1930's american depression era fully functional antique industrial stationary all-metal chicago twine factory "self-closing" upright trash can designed and and patented in 1923 by james walker for the solar-sturges mfg. co., chicago, il. the heavy gauge pressed and folded furniture sheet steel waste receptacle contains a largely intact yellow paint finish. the oversized refuse can features a pyramidal-shaped hinged top for easy retrieval of the interior removable galvanized steel liner and/or rubbish. the trash can retains the original riveted joint yellow brass feet for added support and stability. great overall condition, considering age. 17 inches x 16 1/2 inches x 34 1/2 inches.
