single refinished c. 1940's vintage fully functional american industrial heavy gauge tubular steel "localite" double-joint task lamp designed and fabricated by the fostoria pressed steel corp., fostoria, oh. the pressed and formed steel articulating lamp contains an oversized parabolic-shaped reflector-shade with integrated socket housing. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the existing rewired socket and lamp cord are in good condition. the single light fixture was likely mounted to a factory machine shop lathe or workbench. fostoria began producing the "localite" (in various configurations) beginning in 1918. the ball-and-socket joints are in good working condition. several variations available. socket and mounting plate included. measures 26 inches fully extended, shade measures 6 3/4 inches in diameter.
