completely refinished and solidly-constructed one of a kind 19th century repurposed chicago balloon frame sill plate segment bench with rare brushed metal cast iron pipe fittings

one of kind 19th century repurposed american industrial l-shaped corner sitting bench fabricated from salvaged residential framing sill plate beams containing mortise and tenon joinery fastened with the original wood peg. the robust solid yellow pine wood sill plate section are interlocked in the exact manner (from the time of construction) as discovered during the demolition of the house (1875). the notches were made for joining both studs and joists to the horizontal beams found at the foundation and second floor of the 19th century chicago residence. both beam ends were then cut down, sanded and sealed. the interconnected sill plate sections are supported by oversized rare cast iron bulbous pipe fittings. the cast iron joints have been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. nearly a hundred similarly finished sill beam segments are available. in addition to benches, they make ideal display stands, table bases, and so on.
