original c. 1850's or 1860's antique american industrial oversized carpenter's or builder's wooden mallet. the exact fabricator is not known. the mallet consists of an oversized head with two opposed wrought iron bands or hoops and a rounded edge handle. the building trade tool shows wear consistent with age and use. the hardwood mallet bears no markings indicating maker, owner, etc. great overall condition. measures 5 x 4 x 14 inches.
