original c. 1930's american industrial unornamented cast iron interior flush mount freight elevator car call button backplate likely fabricated by or for the otis elevator co., new york city, ny. the single-sided cast iron backplate with raised edge contains three circular holes where control buttons where once located. the brushed metal finish has been treated with a clear coat finish. salvaged from a chicago print making factory built around 1931.
