fully assembled early 20th century towering american industrial compartmentalized locker unit salvaged from a chicago athletic association building locker room. the oversized freestanding locker contains a "5 tier - 4 wide" configuration. the heavily reinforced locker is comprised of an angled iron frame with riveted joint cold-rolled sheet steel. the diminutive louvered and hinged doors are all original with brass number plaques intact. the majority of the operable components were designed and patented by walter n. vance. the "fireproof" locker is only one of the few remaining original lockers used in the annex building. discovered in the basement. brushed metal finish throughout, with a clear coat finish to prevent surface corrosion. great overall condition, considering age. the barrel locks were removed long ago. the giant locker unit was fabricated by the durand steel locker company, chicago, il. measures approximately 48 x 15 x 87 inches.
