original and fully functional early 20th century antique american flush mount louvered wall grate designed and fabricated by or for the ferrosteel co., chicago, il. the strongly geometrically designed grille is comprised of cast iron with a mostly uniform black enameled finish. the housing containing a plurality of shifting louvers remains intact. the grooved finger or thumb "wheel" or lever used for opening and closing the louvers is on working condition. a total of 11 matching grates bearing the same design characteristics are available. priced individually. salvaged from a multi-story chicago apartment building undergoing demolition. 9.75 x 9.75"
