american depression era antique industrial wall-mount fully functional cast iron and aluminum chicago foundry shop "aireel" with original red paint finish

one of several matching all original and intact c. 1930's american industrial wall-mount medium-sized air hose reels or "aireels" salvaged from a notable chicago foundry containing multiple buildings scattered on several acres of land. the wall-mount "aireel" was designed and fabricated by the appleton electric company, chicago, il. the fully functional reel is comprised of of two perforated reinforced aluminum discs with deeply embossed lettering. one of the two discs is stationary or fixed while the other can be removed. the disc-shaped housing is supported by a durable cast iron wall-mount with extended arm. the centrally located threaded hub is comprised of yellow brass. the reels are equipped with a brake controlled by two governors to assure a slow and even rewind. the hose reels are finished in either orange or the original red paint finish. refinished (i.e., bare metal) reels will be available shortly as more are removed and cleaned. the original red paint finish remains in great overall condition, considering age. very unique and distinctive design with the strength and size of the industrial air hose reel making a bold statement. the visually striking hose reel was first introduced in 1932 by appleton electric. priced individually. measures 31 x 9 x 34 inches.
