original 19th century american antique ornamental cast iron victorian era thumblatch store door handle possibly fabricated by sargent or russell & erwin. the uniquely shaped handle and flush mount backplate have been refinished and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the original thumb latch lever was removed or lost long ago. embossed design elements are typical of the victorian era. measures approximately 9 x 2 1/2 inches.
